architecture school makes me so cool that i have to…

Step 1. Export Revit model as DWG file.

Step 2. Open DWG in Rhino, calibrate scale because the scale gets thrown off. Weird.

Step 3. Orient model for Maya in Rhino, because y-axis in Maya is up-axis. Weird.

Step 4. Export Rhino file as FBX for Maya.

Step 5. Import FBX model into Maya, adjust camera “far clip plane” to see the entire model, because otherwise you won’t see the entire model. Weird.

* In addition, there are different versions of Revit, Rhino and Maya and hundreds of other specifications that have to be correct. I wish I could be exported to the future… when all these steps are eliminated.

  1. usualchatter said: This is so true. Ususally I’m pretty good at figuring out these types of issues. Except I hate that Revit isn’t compatible with older versions.
