Fiona Apple “Across the Universe”
Live at the Bowery Ballroom - last night - 3/26/2012
I think every single person in the room was hanging on every single note she sung when this song began last night. (via perpetua)

I overdosed on two things this summer: metaphysical/transcendental jargon, and JayZ & Kanye’s (slightly more melodic) jargon, which are in pure contention with one another… philosophically-speaking. On the construction site, we were constantly jamming out to the newest songs, and I got much cooler knowing my latest hip-hop as a result. My summer reading, however, started out with some fun books: Born to Run, The Alchemist (nth time), The Pilgrimage, and Hemingway’s short stories. But then I found myself diving into philosophical books on a much denser level - metaphysics. I started out with a favorite, Ayn Rand, and her definition of pure reason in comparison to Kant’s apparent misleading definition. Heidegger’s Introduction to Metaphysics is a great bible of sorts with its bullet points, quotations, and italics for quick reference. I finished the Chomsky-Foucault debate: On Human Nature in September and was feeling a bit maxed out, and somewhat overwhelmed. Coincidentally, a friend gave me the DVD of the debate for my birthday which I did not know even existed. So, just in case I missed any key points on how to “maximize innate creativity,” I will be getting my ontological groove on while listening to “Run This Town” in preparation for my half marathon this weekend! Thanks T!
been listening to this song non-stop for the last few weeks… very apropos today since it’s the first day of studio and i feel like “i’m returning to the gypsy that i was… in the velvet underground” of architecture school. really really excited for this year!
Ellie Goulding’s cover of Bon Iver’s Wolves (Act I and II)
- a “tribute” to all the concerts he’s been having in Boston and NYC this week… that I’ve been missing :(
I grew up on Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band.
This one’s for Clarence Clemons, the saxaphonist. RIP.
Jungleland - a favorite of mine.
Fiona Apple’s cover of The Beatles’ Across the Universe
Home by Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros
fun friday night remix - yeah yeah yeah’s zero…
this reminds me of riding in the car with my brother who was (still is) going through a huge southern/blues/classical rock phase. at the time i thought he was so un-cool. i have since realized… i was the un-cool one.
- “la ci darem la mano” pavarotti duet with sheryl crow
not only is it a beautiful song but sheryl crow really nails this operatic piece and sheds her rocker-chick image… at least for a night!
when you’re good at what you do, you’re already multifarious.
yeah yeah yeahs - heads will roll
@reecepacheco surprised me with september 23rd concert at radio city music hall.
