hadid is a baghdad-born, london-based architect who has founded an entirely different approach to design, which remains unique from project to project. seabrook points to hadid’s upbringing in a male dominated society as the groundwork that prepared her for the challenges she has faced in this historically male dominated profession. she has ultimately placed herself front and center as a female powerhouse of domineering and intimidating stature. yet, there is a presence of slight softness to her that carries over into her work in the form of passion - a passion that derives from numerous experiences as a youth and as a woman. her architectural independence is no doubt in part due to the fact that few have overcome being a “minority” to the extent that she has, whether it be ethnically, regionally or intellectually.
